In the past few months the subject of marriage has seemed to float just right above my head. My friend Allison addressed this by declaring that everyone should have 5 things he/she requires in the person he/she is going to marry. No exceptions.
My 5:

1. Has to be able to make me laugh/ someone I can be happy with.
2. Good with Children & animals (says a lot about a person).
3. Nice/ respectful towards my family & friends. Likable.
4. Cannot be jealous & controlling
5. Financially responsible.

After discussing it with my mom early I realized I have one more:

6. Has to have a talent/ passion that if I forced him to choose between me and it he would leave me over it.

Now my only terrible problem is, is how do you possibly tell the person you are madly in love with that he doesn't meet 2 of your requirements?

The saddest day was when I learned love isn't enough to make a relationship work.
